An in-house lab can mean a permanent crown or front-tooth repair without the usual wait for an outside lab. At Astra Dental, scanning, design, milling, and 3D printing take place in our Stratford office. The important distinction is which restoration your treatment plan can complete that day, not simply whether the office owns a lab.

Our same-day teeth service includes in-house restoration workflows. A final crown on an existing tooth and a final restoration on an implant do not always follow the same sequence.

What can be finished in one visit?

Most crowns and front-tooth repairs can be completed permanently the same day in our in-house lab. We also make implant final restorations here. Before arranging your day, ask which exact item will be completed and whether anything needs to happen first.

A crown on an existing tooth
For an appropriate tooth, our same-day crown workflow can combine planning and the final crown in one visit. Decay, cracks, infection, gum concerns, or other treatment needs can change that sequence.
An implant restoration
Implant surgery, healing, and the final restoration are separate stages to clarify. Making the final restoration in-house does not eliminate healing or mean every implant case is finished on the first day.
A staged treatment plan
A temporary restoration may be part of the plan while other treatment or healing takes place. Ask what you will leave with and what remains before the final restoration.

Why having the lab here matters

In-house fabrication keeps more restoration steps within the office instead of sending every step elsewhere. It allows the lab workflow to support your treatment plan, whether that plan is a permanent repair that day or a sequence of visits. See our technology and in-house lab for the equipment and workflow.

The dentist still evaluates the tooth or implant site, gums, bite, and any treatment that should come first. Those findings determine whether same-day completion is appropriate; lab access is not a substitute for diagnosis.

Four questions that make the timeline clear

  1. Which tooth or restoration do you expect to finish at this visit?
  2. Will I leave with the final restoration or a temporary stage?
  3. What findings or healing requirements could change that timeline?
  4. If another visit is needed, what happens between visits and at the final appointment?

For an implant that is still healing, our guide to temporary front-tooth options explains that separate stage.
