Many dental problems start quietly. A small cavity, early gum inflammation, a cracked filling, or a bite issue may not hurt at first. Regular dental checkups help find those problems before they become emergencies.

For many patients, visits every six months are appropriate. Some patients with gum disease, high cavity risk, dry mouth, or complex restorative work may need a different schedule.

What we are looking for

A checkup is more than a quick look. The dental team evaluates teeth, gums, bone levels, bite, existing crowns or fillings, oral tissues, and any symptoms the patient has noticed.

Digital X-rays may be recommended when needed to see areas that cannot be checked visually.

Why prevention saves time and stress

Treating a small cavity is usually simpler than treating a toothache. Managing gum inflammation early is easier than treating advanced periodontal disease. Adjusting a bite concern early may protect restorations from fracture.

Prevention is not glamorous, but it is often the best dentistry.

A schedule that fits the patient

Dr. Sran and the hygiene team can recommend a maintenance schedule based on your actual risk, not a one-size-fits-all rule.

If it has been a while since your last dental visit, Astra Dental can help you restart without judgment.
